Abrah Meyer elected 2015-16 National FFA Officer

Abrah Meyer, sophomore in Agricultural Business at Iowa State University, has been elected by delegates from across the United States to serve as a member of the 2015-2016 National FFA Officer team.

Meyer, from Readlyn, IA, will serve as central region vice president. She was elected with five others during the 88th National FFA Convention & Expo to represent the organization, committing one year of service. The elected positions include a president, secretary and vice presidents who represent the central, southern, eastern and western regions of the U.S.

As a national officer, Meyer will travel more than 100,000 miles nationally and internationally. During the trips, she will interact with business and industry leaders, FFA members and teachers, corporate sponsors, government and education officials, FFA leaders at the state level, and the general public.

Among the duties she can expect throughout the year are to lead personal growth and leadership trainings for FFA members, to help set policies to guide the future of the organization, and the promotion of agricultural literacy. Meyer previously has served as Iowa FFA president (2014-2015) and state secretary (2013-2014), in addition to positions in her local chapter.

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7,757 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
