Amanda Bries recognized as 2015 Iowa State University College of Human Sciences Student Sensation

Amanda Bries of Manchester, Iowa , has been named a College of Human Sciences Student Sensation at Iowa State University. Bries is a junior studying dietetics. The College of Human Sciences recognizes 15 young adults as the 2015 Student Sensations for their contributions to expanding human potential and improving people's lives.

Bries is determined to help people live longer, healthier lives. As secretary of the Diabetes Education Club, she helped organize the group’s first annual Diabetes Education Walk. She’s put in countless volunteer hours with Food Banks Across Iowa, Food at First, and the Boys and Girls Club. She’s also been a dietetic intern as well as a general counselor at two camps run by the American Diabetic Association. She’s an active member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Student Dietetic Association. Despite the challenge of balancing coursework, activities, and volunteer work, Bries made the dean’s list every semester during her college career.
