Brian Nguyen's "IMPAACT" team receives Martin Luther King Jr. Advancing One Community award

Brian Nguyen of Nguyen, MN, received the Martin Luther King Jr. Advancing One Community Award as a student member of the Making Progress for the Asian American Community Today, or IMPAACT, committee.

The IMPAACT retreat is a major event hosted by the Asian Student Union at Iowa State, which advocates for the experiences of Asian Americans through civic engagement, cultural events, and discussion forums. Members of the IMPAACT committee who were honored with the award include: Seth Backham, Kevin Dang, Jaki Delfin, Celest Ki, Kevin Kieu, Kristi Lee, Ryoka Matsuno, Brian Nguyen, John Nguyen, Houa Vang, and Justin Winkel.

This award, given by the ISU Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, recognizes efforts of group of students who create an inclusive university community that embraces justice and equity. In addition to the student group award, an award for an individual student and a faculty award are announced.
