Christian Ostrander to be recognized as outstanding graduate at Iowa State University College of Human Sciences spring convocation

Christian Ostrander of Norwalk, IA, is one of six outstanding graduates who will receive individual recognition during the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences convocation at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium. The college will recognize the accomplishments of nearly 300 graduating students in a series of events on Dec. 15 and 16.

Christian Ostrander of Norwalk is the College of Human Sciences College Marshal. He is graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and health and a specialization in pre-health professions, emphasizing pre-physician assistant studies. During his undergraduate studies, Ostrander, a professionally trained flight and operational medical technician, rendered humanitarian care and mission support for ongoing Air Force missions. In addition to earning numerous awards for his military service, Ostrander earned a position on the dean's list each term since December 2014. As an undergraduate research assistant in kinesiology, he helped to facilitate research in the Cardio-RACE laboratory. After graduation, Ostrander will enter the physician assistant program at Des Moines University.

Dean and Dean's Chair Laura Dunn Jolly and department chairs will individually recognize students receiving bachelor's degrees at the college's undergraduate convocation. A reception for graduating students at all levels will immediately follow the college convocation, in the first-floor lobby of the Scheman Building. Iowa State University's fall commencement ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Hilton Coliseum.
