David Moore III recognized as outstanding graduate at Iowa State University College of Human Sciences spring convocation

The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences recognized the accomplishments of nearly 450 graduating students in a series of events on May 5 and 6. David Moore III of Iowa Falls, IA, is one of six outstanding graduates who received individual recognition during convocation at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Hilton Coliseum.

Moore will be recognized as the spring 2017 Graduating Student of the Year, an award given by his peers for displaying exemplary leadership ability and overall character. He is graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and health. Dedicated to the success of his peers, Moore served as an undergraduate teaching assistant and an undergraduate research assistant for the departments of biology and chemistry, respectively, and as a tutor at the academic success center. He represented his college as a 2015 Student Sensation, a Human Sciences Student Council member, and an ISU Student Government senator. He also was a member of the Cardinal Key honor society and helped accelerate the Memorial Union's renovation while serving on its board of trustees.

Dean and Dean's Chair Laura Dunn Jolly and department chairs individually recognized students receiving bachelor's degrees at the college's undergraduate convocation. A reception for graduating students at all levels immediately followed the college convocation, in the first-floor lobby of the Scheman Building. Iowa State University's spring commencement ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on May 6 at Jack Trice Stadium.
