Emma Kachelmeyer among nine Iowa State University students to receive national YMA Fashion scholarship

Emma Kachelmeyer of Sussex, WI (53089), is one of nine students from Iowa State University who have been awarded a YMA Fashion scholarship. This award is given to the winners of a case study competition hosted by the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund.

Kachelmeyer is a junior studying apparel, merchandising, and design at Iowa State, and was awarded a scholarship for her case study competition entry in the merchandising and marketing category.

The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund is the premier educational fashion non-profit in the United States. The organization received 540 submissions from 60 member schools for the scholarship competition. Scholarship winners will be recognized at the 2018 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala on Jan. 9, 2018, in New York City.

Iowa State University apparel, merchandising, and design students share a long history of receiving YMA Fashion scholarships. Last year, Iowa State University students received a record number of 11 $5000 scholarships.

Iowa State University offers apparel students hands-on experience with high-tech equipment, opportunities to learn from experts in the field, and internships ranging from New York haute couture houses to pragmatic Iowa entrepreneurship opportunities.

Home to one of the largest student-produced fashion shows in the nation, the ISU apparel program provides students with access to a textiles conservation laboratory, an extensive historical garment collection, an apparel production center, and a clothing museum as well as tools such as a 3-D body scanner, an industrial-sized digital printer, and state-of-the-art design software.
