Fevold and the Iowa State Meat Judging Team begin fall judging season.

Michaella Fevold and the 2016 Iowa State Undergraduate Meat Judging Team finished fourth overall and won the processed meat division at the Hormel National Barrow Show Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest.

This competition, held at the Hormel Research and Development Facility in Austin, MN on Saturday, September 10, marks the beginning of the fall judging season for the Iowa State teams. Fevold was the second high individual in the processed meat division.

At the contest Fevold, majoring in animal science from Story City, and the rest of the competitors did a visual inspection of both fresh and processed products; answered questions on five classes; described processed meat defects; and wrote a keep/cull scenario.

The team is coached by Dr. Sherry Olsen, lecturer in animal science; Alex Conover, senior in animal science; and Carl Frame, senior in animal science.
