Haley Wellman selected as 2015 Heddleson Summer Intern

Haley Wellman has been selected as the 2015 Heddleson Summer Intern, working with Iowa State University Human Sciences' Extension and Outreach. Wellman, a Houghton, Iowa native, is a junior in the College of Human Sciences studying family and consumer science education and studies .

Wellmans’s internship would take her to different extension offices in Iowa that are placed in areas that are considered “care deserts’ to collect data on what these areas are lacking and evaluate what resources they could use. Her project will help to bring to light to what types of education and resources the Midlife & Beyond program can work on implementing in these areas to better Iowa resident’s lives. She will be collaborating with Dr. Jennifer Margrett (Associate Professor, Human Development and Family Studies), Donna Donald (Field Operation Specialist, Human Sciences Extension and Outreach), and the Human Sciences Extension and Outreach Midlife and Beyond team.

The Heddleson Summer Internship program is designed to support student experiences that prepare individuals for a career in extension or community outreach, as well as help students gain hands-on experience with extension education programming and delivery. Wellman was one of three student selected to complete the internship this summer.
