Macy Marek and ISU NAMA Chapter receive Signature Award

2017 May 12

Macy Marek, majoring in Agricultural Business, was a part of the 4th place John Deere Signature Award winning Iowa State University Student Chapter of National Agri-Marketing Association (ISU NAMA). The award was presented to club members attending the national conference April 24-28 in Dallas, TX.

The Signature Award is based on a points system, given for achievement and involvement in several categories. First is the student chapter, with points based on an annual report which includes information about membership and participation, projects and activities. ISU NAMA has over 40 members. Marek was a member of the student chapter during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Second, participation in the marketing team competition. Students act as an agency to build a marketing plan for a new agricultural product. Team members pitch the plan to judges who act as a company board of directors. This year, the Iowa State chapter's product was VFDirect, a cloud-based management tool for the veterinary feed directives (VFDs).

Third is applying for and receiving scholarships from the Agri-Business Education Foundation.

Finally, receiving other national awards. At the conference, the Iowa State chapter also received 3rd place Outstanding Student Chapter, based on an annual report of activities which showcase the chapters' many opportunities and activities throughout the entire academic year. Additionally, they received the Chapter Performance Award - Career Development, which recognizes unique ideas to encourage students and improve the chapter.

The chapter is advised by Marcie Stevenson and Amanda Blair.
