2017 Sep 7

Macy Marek, an Iowa State University student majoring in Agricultural Business, attended the 97th Annual National Block and Bridle Convention in Arlington, Virginia. The conference, hosted by the University of Connecticut and the American Society of Animal Science, provided students with an interest in production animal agriculture the opportunity to see the House Committee on Agriculture and meet legislators who work on farm bills for Congress.

Iowa State University's Block and Bridle chapter is one of the largest student organizations on campus. Like the national organization, the Iowa State chapter's objectives are:

  1. To promote a higher scholastic standard and a more complete understanding of Animal Science among student members.
  2. To promote animal agriculture through development of a program of activities that will supplement students' study of the animal sciences in colleges and universities.
  3. To enhance professionalism of students who will one day be leaders in the animal agriculture industry.
  4. To bring about a closer relationship among all students pursuing some phase of animal agriculture as a profession.
