Marissa Till learns about food production in China

2015 Aug 17

Marissa Till, majoring in environmental science at #IowaState, traveled to China with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Study Abroad Office for two and a half weeks to study food production and processing in an international setting.

Till and fellow students on the trip were in four major regions/cities and had the opportunity to speak with students and faculty from major universities. They also had time to visit some of the historic sights in China.

The students visited production facilities for all kinds of products including mushrooms, Chinese medicine, fish and rice, among others. In several locations, the group was able to observe aquaculture and toured a vertical greenhouse production demonstration farm. They spoke with students and faculty at four universities including the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Institute and China Agriculture University. All these tours and interactions provided the students with insights on the infrastructure of the research and technology facilities used in the production and processing of foods.
