Paige Cannella receives CALS Council Senior Award

2017 Dec 12

Paige Cannella, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University, received the Outstanding Senior award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Student Council. This award recognizes an individual who encompasses efforts in service, leadership, and scholarship.

As a student, Cannella has been active in Sigma Alpha, Farm Operations Club and Iowa Corn Growers. She participated in several committees and chaired the fundraising for the Farm Operations Club. Academically, Paige has been on the Dean’s list every semester and will be graduating with distinction, Magna Cum Laude, a semester early. She is also a member of several honor societies including Gamma Sigma Delta, Alpha Zeta Agricultural Honor Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Phi Eta Sigma.

Cannella’s adviser, Dr. Greg Miller, professor in agricultural education and studies, said Paige’s “collegiate success demonstrates that desire, dedication and commitment allow one to achieve goals more than geographical location or family history. Along with her atypical background, she is a role model to other young women who are considering a career in agriculture.”

Award recipients will be recognized at the college convocation event December 16, 2017 beginning at 9:30 am in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium. Presenting the award on behalf of council will be the newly elected CALS Council President, Alex Brand, and Vice President, Wes Reever.
