Raeann Hanlon recognized as outstanding graduate at Iowa State University College of Human Sciences spring convocation

The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences recognized the accomplishments of nearly 450 graduating students in a series of events on May 5 and 6. Raeann Hanlon of Madrid, IA, is one of six outstanding graduates who received individual recognition during convocation at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Hilton Coliseum.

Hanlon will represent the College of Human Sciences as the university marshal. She is graduating summa cum laude with bachelor's degrees in event management and apparel, merchandising, and design, with an emphasis in merchandising. Her high character and outstanding achievement earned her a Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award, plus numerous scholarships and a spot in the President's Leadership Class. An active member of numerous honor societies and a strong voice for Iowa State, she represented the College of Human Sciences as a student ambassador and a student council member. She also helped lead The Fashion Show. Hanlon is past president of the Kappa Delta sorority and a former delegate to the National Panhellenic Conference. She has volunteered for many youth development and child abuse prevention organizations. After graduation, she plans to pursue an advanced degree in higher education.

Dean and Dean's Chair Laura Dunn Jolly and department chairs individually recognized students receiving bachelor's degrees at the college's undergraduate convocation. A reception for graduating students at all levels immediately followed the college convocation, in the first-floor lobby of the Scheman Building. Iowa State University's spring commencement ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on May 6 at Jack Trice Stadium.
