Raeann Hanlon selected as 2015 Heddleson Summer Intern

2015 Apr 2

Raeann Hanlon has been selected as the 2015 Heddleson Summer Intern, working with Iowa State University Human Sciences' Extension and Outreach. Hanlon, a Churdan, Iowa native, is a sophomore in the College of Human Sciences studying event management.

Hanlon’s internship will focus on two areas of need she has identified in Calhoun County, Iowa. The first area is marketing Nutrition and Wellness and Family Life programs. She will be involved in creating brochures, getting the information out, and marketing the programs via social media. She will also be trained to implement some of the programs themselves. She will be working with Dr. David Brown (Human Sciences Extension and Outreach Family Life Specialist) and Katie Knobbe (Human Sciences Extension and Outreach Nutrition and Wellness Specialist). Another area of focus is related to youth citizenship. She will be working closely with Carol Ehlers (4-H Youth program Specialist). Raeann will implement a county wide citizenship activity with the goal of helping youth in Calhoun County to recognize the importance of citizenship.

The Heddleson Summer Internship program is designed to support student experiences that prepare individuals for a career in extension or community outreach, as well as help students gain hands-on experience with extension education programming and delivery. Hanlon was one of three student selected to complete the internship this summer.
