Robert Doan tours Omaha food industry through Culinary Science Club.

Doan, a student in Culinary Science, completed the two day career exploration and networking tour food industry tour as a member of the Iowa State University Culinary Science Club. The trip included impressive facility tours for large international food corporation Conagra, strong regional brand Rotella's Italian Bakery and small startup offerings such as Sweet Magnolias Bake Shop.

While on the trip, Doan and the club had the opportunity to see firshand how the local foods movement impacts the food industry and were excited to talk to farmers and small-scale producers in the Old Market District and Blackstone Districts in Omaha. Addtional stops at The Blackstone Meatball and Noli's Pizzeria were concluded with a tour and dessert at Coneflower Creamery - a "farm-to-cone" ice cream operation.
