Taylor Wilkins, of Brooker, FL, majoring in Agriculture and Life Sciences Education at #IowaState, successfully completed Spring 2016 as a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Ambassadors. This highly selective group of students plays a pivotal role in the recruitment activities of the college.

Members of this group, open to all students in the college, are required to log at least 20 hours of volunteering each semester and maintain attendance and participation requirements. Ambassadors serve actively on one of seven committees, each tasked with specific duties related to the purposes of recruitment and engagement within the college.

Wilkins served as a member of the Transfer, who organizes visit days for students from community colleges across the state who may be interested in the college. They give tours of campus and answer questions for those interested in transferring to Iowa State.

Over the course of spring 2016, the Ambassadors saw 827 prospective students on campus and logged over 2,500 volunteer hours.

Governing the Ambassadors is a leadership team who is made up of committee chairs, a representative from each committee, and elected officers which includes a chairperson, vice-chair, and secretary. The CALS Ambassadors are advised by Beth Foreman, Student Services, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
